Do you ever wonder why the amount of visitors you have on your website is at an all-time low? Well, here’s a few things that will help you realize what NOT to do when creating and managing a wesbite!

Don’t place content in large blocks of text. Users don’t read every word on the screen as if it were a book. For a better chance at keeping views of your site, keep your text in an easy-to-read manner! An important rule is making sure your customers know what your website is about just by looking at it for a few seconds. Keep your information in clear and concise manner, and avoid having any information in a format larger than a small paragraph.

Avoid contrasting color combinations. Using over the top color combinations can sometimes draw visitors away from your website. It is also important to have a color theme that is easy to read. For a professional look, try using a dark background, and avoid using white text on a black background. Dark on light is better than light on dark.

Try not to use fancy fonts. Everyone loves a little pizzazz, but do your best at staying away from any font that is hard to read! More detailed fonts tend to require more work because it makes the content unreadable. Stay simple!

Automatic background music is a no-no. Clicking onto a website and having music automatically play can sometimes draw people away from visiting again. Maybe the visitor doesn’t appreciate the music you picked for your website, or many the sound startled them. It is best to just draw customers in from the appearance, rather than sound.

Stay away from complicated navigation. The layout of your website is key. Don’t make your visitors click on a million different tabs just to find the correct place they want to be. Have certain topics separated, and if you need to, have sub-topics under the main topic tabs.

Websites are fun to have and easy to take care of! Be sure to keep your site user friendly to assure they’ll keep coming back!
